The famouse tops of the Urals - Mt.Narodnaya and Mt.Manaraga

The easy way to climb the highest peaks of the Urals and get a rafting through the wild areas down the river Kosiyu

Optimal time for rafting in the Nether-Polar Ural is June - August.
It is necessary to take into account that depending on the month of visiting the Nether-Polar Ural, the tour has specific peculiarities.
June – a beautiful mysterious time of white nights in the Nether-Polar Ural. Air temperature is +5 - +20OC - this time is characterized by high levels of water in the rivers. Temperature of the water is about +7OC. For tourists it is necessary to have additional warm clothes, as during the passage through the fords water will flow over the rafts.
July-August - during this time in the Nether-Polar Ural the summer is at its peak – the sun is shining 24-hours a day. Air temperature is +10 - +30OC.
September - night frosts are possible. Air temperature is +5 - +20OC - but this is the best time in mountains – the time of picturesque golden autumn.  There are many mushrooms and different kinds of berries in autumn in the taiga.

The program of travel:

1 day
Arrival to the town Inta by train (Moscow-Labytnangi or Moscow-Vorkuta). You can look at schedule here. We meet you at the railway station of the town Inta.
Registration. Transfer to the point of start – the settlement Zhelannyj by 6X6 off-road vehicle "Ural". It takes about 6-8 hours. Lunch.
Start of trekking. Trekking (6 km) to the tourist tent camp “Oasis".
Accommodation in tent camp. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
2 day
Breakfast. Trekking to lake “Vosmerka” (“The eight”).  Lunch.
Fishing on lake (speckled trout - Salvelinus fontinalis). Swimming. Climbing for acclimatization.
Accommodation in tent camp on the bank of lake. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
3 day
Breakfast. Climbing (12 km) Mt. Narodnaya – the highest top (1895 m) of the Urals mountains.
Mount Narodnaya (Naroda-iz in Komi language) is the highest mountain in the Urals (1895 metres) and it is located on the “Ridge of Researches” in the pre-polar Urals.
It was discovered in 1927 by the Severouralsk expedition by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR under the management of A.Aleshkov.
The peak, discovered on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the “Great October Revolution”, was named “Narodnaya” (People’s), in honour of the Soviet people by A.Aleshkov.
Also there is a version that the mountain was named according to the name of the river Naroda which flows from slopes of Mt. Narodnaya (basin of the river Northern Sosva).

Lunch.
After we will have climbed Mt. Narodnaya we cross the pass Kar-Kar and then go down to the tent camp “Olenij” (“Deer’s camp”), (18 km).
Accommodation in tent camp. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
4 day
Breakfast. Trekking to the foot of Mt. Manaraga (12 km). Lunch.
Accommodation in tent camp. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
5 day
Breakfast. Trekking (12 km)  + climbing Mt. Manaraga (1820 m). Lunch.
Accommodation in the tent camp. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
6 day
Breakfast. Start of rafting along the river Kosiyu.
Being rafted down the river Kosjyu you will get acquainted with a wild northern nature and enjoy mountain landscapes of the Nether-Polar Ural. Landscape of area of rafting – low mountains (up to 1500 m) with abrupt steep slopes, covered with taiga. You can catch different species of fish - European grayling (up to 2.5 kg and 65 sm.), speckled trout (Salvelinus fontinalis), (river and lake subspecies, up to 1.2 kg and 50 sm.).
By the august the atlantic salmon – the Pechora salmon (up to 20 kg and 1.2 m) will has floated to the middle part of the river Kosjyu for spawning.
Length of rafting – 16 km. Fishing in time of rafting. Lunch.
Accommodation in the tourist shelter on the bank of the river. After a short rest tourists can visit the inundated lakes, located not far (500 and 1500ì) from the tourist shelter. Fishing. Inundated lakes give a fine opportunity for fishermen to catch perch (up to 1 kg) and pike (up to 5 kg and 1 m). Russian Baths. Dinner. Spent the night in the tourist shelter.
7 day
Breakfast. Continuation of rafting along the river Kosiyu up to the rapid “Kedrovyj” ("Cedar’s rapid"). Length of rafting – 14 km. Fishing in time of rafting.
Accommodation in the tent camp on the bank of the river. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
8 day
Breakfast. Continuation of rafting (7 km) up to the former wooden hut of local hunter (Alyakrinskij’s hut). Lunch.
From this place the most interesting for fishing part of the river begins. Rafting (6 km) up to the reach “Brakonierskij” ( “Poacher’s reach”).
Walk (1 km from the camp) to inundated lake, where you can catch the large samples of perch and pike.
Accommodation in the tent camp on the left bank of the river. Dinner. Spent the night in double tents.
9 day
Breakfast. Continuation of rafting (7 km) up to a mouth of the river Nidysej, and further up to the rapid “White Horse”. Lunch.
Accommodation in the tourist shelter “Nidysej” in the mouth of the river Nidysej. Dinner. Spent the night in the tourist shelter.
10 day
Breakfast. Day of fishing. Lunch.
Walk to lake “Mezhgornoe”, where it is possible to catch Trout (Salmo trutta).
Russian Baths. Dinner. Spent the night in the tourist shelter.
11 day
Breakfast. Continuation of rafting (9 km) up to base “Kruglaya Yama” (“Round hole”). In time of rafting you pass two rapids “Trek” and “Bezgil”. Lunch.
Finish of the rafting along the river Kosiyu. Accommodation in the base. Dinner. Spent the night in the tourist shelter.
12 day
Breakfast. Transfer to the town Inta by motor boat (160 km) to the landing-stage “Vodovod” and, then by a vehicle.
Accommodation in hotel. Russian Baths. Farewell dinner.
Transfer to the railway station. Departure of group.

Cost includes:
- transfer from the town Inta to the settlement Zhelannyj.
- transfer to the town Inta from the base “Kruglaya Yama”.
- rent of special equipment (tents, sleeping bags, equipment for preparing meal etc.)
- visit of the National Park “Yugyd-Va”
- guide (cook)
- meal, according to the program.
- interpreter

Cost does not include:
- visa support
- transfer to/from the town Inta
- alcohol
- equipment for fishing
- special warm clothes and rubber boots
